MR K K KAPILA APPOINTED AS INTERNATIONAL FEDERATION OF CONSULTING ENGINEERS (FIDIC) AMBASSADOR FOR THE ASIA-PACIFIC REGION FOR THE YEAR 2022-24
New Delhi :The International Federation of Consulting Engineers (FIDIC) the global apex body of consulting engineering industry has appointed Mr K K Kapila, Chairman of Intercontinental Consultants and Technologies (ICT) and former president of Consulting Engineers Association of India (CEAI) as a ‘FIDIC’ Ambassador for the Asia Pacific Region for the year 2022-24.
The Geneva based FIDIC represents globally the consulting engineering industry which helps in field of Land Surveys of Highway & Bridges, Hydroelectric projects, Irrigation projects, Defense , gas and power projects, industrial projects, Public health, Project Management, Highway Geometric Designs, Design of Bridges & Culverts. As such, the Federation promotes the business interest of firms supplying technology-based intellectual services for the construction related industry. FIDIC today has more than one million professionals as members in more than 100 countries .
“FIDIC aims to represent globally the consulting engineering field by promoting interests of Companies/Organizations/Firms/Engineers providing technology-based services for built and natural environment. FIDIC is well known for work in defining Conditions of Contract for the Construction industry worldwide. Most of the countries worldwide including India use FIDIC contract conditions” said Mr K K Kapila, newly appointed Ambassador of FIDIC for Asia Pacific .
“The FIDIC contract used mostly in multinational , World bank , ADB projects benefits in a country like India and its potential role in decreasing litigation in a country .The FIDIC contract system has also helped India creating a lucrative market for foreign investments, it is essential that India adopts a universally uniform format of construction contracts in the way of FIDIC handbooks for future investments “ said Mr Kapila.
“While adopting FIDIC will help India eliminate petty disputes and claims preliminarily, a major relief will come in the form of a developed dispute resolution system for construction contracts. This will also help in boosting project and service exports from the country “ said Mr Kapila.
“FIDIC also helps the consulting engineers find innovative ways to increase capacity building of the infrastructure and construction industry, quality of civil works and need to improve project management through an efficient dispute resolution mechanism, harmonious approach to PPP projects and raising of finances.” He added .
