Intra-departmental Moot Court competitions held

Aligarh: The team of Mohd Noorudeen, Anchal Bajpai and Sadaf Shaikh emerged winner while the team of Akash Raghav, Saurabh Sharma and Surya Gautam were declared runner up in intra-departmental Moot Court competition organized by the Law Society, AMU Malappuram Centre, Kerala. The event took place as part of the law festival “Lex Fiesta ‘2019”.

Sadaf Sheikh was declared best speaker and Anchal Bajpayi, best researcher in the Moot Court event.

Mohammad Shah Momin and Ubais Ansari emerged winners of cross-examination debate while Saood Sami and Sahim were declared runners. Sahim Khan was the best speaker.

Ashik Mohd PI was declared first in Judgment criticism whereas Akash Raghav and Mohd Gufran won second and third prizes respectively.

In Quiz, Zeeshan Alam and Aman Alam bagged the first prize and Aakash Raghav and Iftikhar Chowdhary won the second prize, while Meeran was declared third.

In essay competition, Ahmad Siddiqui won the first prize while Shahnawaz Alam won second and Mohd Kamraan Tauheed and Mudassair Ahmed won the third prizes.

Moinul Islam and Ritik Kumar emerged winners in Client Counseling Competition while Asjad Alam and Md Fahiyan were runner up. Faraj Ali Khan was declared the winning client, Ananya Raghav best client and Izhar Khan Runner up Client. Vaibhav Teotia and Ankur Singh were declared best counsel from prelims round.

In online article submission, Zeeshan Alam stood first, Divya Shenoy second and Saurabh Sharma third.

Chief Guest, Smt Sherin (Magistrate, Perinthalmanna) distributed prizes to the winners and felicitated Ms Neelam Faizan, Convener, Law Society for her efforts.

Advocate KC Ashraf (President, District Bar Association, Manjeri) discussed the importance of the Constitution Dayand urged the students to spread awareness regarding protection of fundamental rights and secularism. He said Supreme Court of India, being the guardian of the constitution, has the onus to protect citizens? rights from arbitrary state laws.

Dr Faisal KP (Director of the Centre) congratulated faculty members and students for engaging students in meaningful events.

Mr Ghalib Nashter (Coordinator) welcomed the guests while Dr Shahnawaz Ahmed Malik, faculty convener of Law Society, explained the history and activities of the Law Department.

Vote of thanks was presented by Akram Khan, General Secretary, Law Society proposed a vote of thanks while Shubhanshu Das (Additional Secretary, Law Society), Kulsoon Hasan and Wasique Saleem Khan conducted various sessions of the programme.
