No sensitive data will be shared without consent: Ravi Shankar Prasad

New Delhi: Mr Ravi Shankar Prasad, Minister for Law & Justice and Communications, Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India, today said that none of the sensitive data of the consumers will go outside the country without their consent.

Speaking at ‘FICCI’s 92nd Annual Convention – India: Roadmap to a $5 Trillion Economy’, Mr Prasad said that the government has already framed the data protection law which is under consideration by the committee.

“We must put system in place that the data principle should give consent to the producery to share the data, and this consent should be voluntary,” he said.

“This data should be shared for a limited purpose and if the company violates this purpose, it should be penalized,” asserted Mr Prasad.

Further elaborating on electronics industry, the minister said that data processing is going to become a big money-spinner and job creator.

“I am keen that India must become a big centre of data processing,” added Mr Prasad.

The minister was of the opinion that electronics has a great future and $1 trillion will be the digital component of the targeted $5 trillion economy.
