Workshop on ‘Basics of Mooting and Memorial Drafting’

Aligarh : BA LLB students of the Faculty of Law, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) were provided with the understanding of litigation, nuances of legal research and cogent presentations in the Mooting workshop on ‘Basics of Mooting and Memorial Drafting’ of the Law Society, Faculty of Law.

Chairing the programme at the Moot Court Hall, Prof Mohammad Ashraf (Dean, Faculty of Law and Chairman, Department of Law) said: “The very first introduction to what a court looks like is experienced by law students in the moot courts. It is here that they get to experience how they need to present themselves, address the bench and interact with their adversaries. I am sure that the participation in the workshop will provide the students with all the understanding of the mooting process and drafting memorials”.

“Programmes like these provide the law students with necessary skills to carry out research, draft memorials and develop argumentation and presentation skills”, said Prof Mohammad Tariq (In-charge, Law Society).

The resource persons Mohammad Haider Abbas Zaidi (Advocate, Allahabad High Court) and Akash Varshney (Vice President, AMU Law Society) explained students various aspects of memorial drafting, apprised them of the oral moot proceedings and answered queries to ensure greater clarity of learning.

Mohd Umam Siddiqui (Joint Secretary, Law Society) moderated the programme and Raza Haider Zaidi (Incharge, Moot Court Cell) delivered the welcome address.

Sohaib Akhtar (Secretary, Law Society) extended the vote of thanks.

Over 160 students attended the programme.
