Two-day Training Programme on Tiffin based Millet Recipes
Aligarh : The Centre of Agricultural Education, Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) conducted two-day training on “Tiffin based Millet Recipes” under the “International Year of Millet-2023”.
On the first day Dr. Nazia Tabassum (Asst. Prof., Dept. of Post Harvest Engineering and Technology) spoke on the application of Millets in food processing. She introduced a variety of millet grains, their processing and nutritional benefits.
The second lecture was delivered by Dr. Iram Aslam (Asst. Prof., D/o. Home Science) on the topic, “health promoting attributes of Millets”.
In her presentation she explained various kinds of recipes based on millets along with their health benefits. Dr. Aslam presented some millet based cooked items like millet laddu, halwa, chikki, snacks and also made it available to the participants.
On the second day the programme started with demonstration of home cooked millet recipes.
The participants, mostly from UG and PG, registered for the best recipes competition. They exhibited their recipes along with the cooking method and its nutritional benefits. More than 20 recipes were submitted for the evaluation.
The competition was judged by Dr. Iram Aslam, Dr. Faheem Ahmaad and Dr. Zeba Khan.
Earlier, Prof Iqbal Ahmad, Chairman of the Department delivered the welcome address.
Dr. Zeba Khan extended the vote of thanks.
