The 3rd edition of SFA Championships in Dehradun records historic athlete participation

Dehradun : The SFA Championships are set to kick off with impressive registrations of more than 12000 athletes across Uttarakhand, competing in more than 30 categories of sports. With over 300 schools having confirmed their participation, the SFA Championships aims to discover the “number one school in sports” in the city and eventually in the country.

Parade Ground, Pavilion Ground and Maharana Pratap Sports College – state-of-the-art infrastructure in Dehradun – is geared up to witness athletes from different walks of life grace the SFA Championships, beginning October 10th. The third edition of SFA Championships has received an overwhelming number of registrations from – Dehradun, Mussoorie, Rishikesh, Haridwar and Roorkee. The SFA Championships is an endeavour by Sports For All (SFA), India’s largest tech-enabled multi-sports school competition platform.

Where 30% of registrations have female athletes participating in Athletics, Badminton, Kho Kho, Basketball and Karate as their preferred sports, male athletes are picking Football, Athletics, Badminton, Kabaddi and Kho Kho as their preferred top 5 sports (in that order). This has got the Coaches and Schools enthused with anticipation, to see what’s in store for the other sports.

To provide an unmatched sporting experience, the SFA Championships will equip young athletes with professional infrastructure and equipment, certified match officials and referees through Sports Associations, comprehensive medical stations, including on-site physiotherapists, clinics, and workshops. The digitally integrated system will equip athletes with detailed statistics, performance analysis and match videography. The digital record on the website will empower athletes to review their performances and even compare them with peers across states, fostering a healthy competitive environment.Visualize this multi-sport platform like the Olympics, where every school can send their athlete contingent to compete in sports.

In 2023, SFA has pledged to encourage 2 lakh athletes to play through 10 SFA Championships within a span of 4 months! Finally, a sports-tech platform that is focused on giving school sports the centre-stage and empowering athletes for a forward path to become the future Champions.
