University of Reading Ranks 26th in the UK in THE World University Rankings

The University of Reading has maintained its position at 26 in the UK, according to the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2024, published today [27 September].

Reading has significantly strengthened its position in the rating for ‘international outlook’, now ranked at 38 in the world, up from 77 in 2023.

The University is ranked at 201-250 overall in the world ranking, slightly down from 198 in 2023. The 2024 rankings feature more than 1,900 institutions, an increase of more than 100 on previous editions. 104 UK universities are included in the table.

Reading also saw improvements in its score for collaboration with industry, which looks at income coming from business, and patents built on university research. Reading was ranked at 411 in the world, up from 734 previously.

Dr Caroline Baylon, the University of Reading’s Pro-Vice-Chancellor for International, said: “Reading is a truly global university, and I am pleased that we have maintained our position among UK institutions in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2024.

“League tables can be a useful indicator for those looking to compare institutions across the world, and while many international institutions continue to expand, British universities are still rightly considered among the best in the world.

“In a world that can seem to be throwing up more barriers to international collaboration, it is important that universities provide strong links across borders for the benefit of all. I am grateful to my colleagues, and our students, whose international mindset and approach is reflected in Reading’s position among the most outward-looking universities in the world.”
