Dr. Kalam Quiz Championship & World Space Week – 2023: Celebrating Space And Education
Delhi – SPACE India, a pioneering organization committed to advancing science, space exploration, and technology, marked the month of October with a zest for education and exploration. Through the commemoration of World Space Week (WSW- 2023) and the revitalizing Dr. Kalam Quiz Championship, the organization aimed to inspire, educate, and ignite the passion for space sciences among students worldwide.
Commencing on October 4, 2023, the World Space Week unrolled as a series of events mobilised by SPACE India. This year’s WSW, aligned with the United Nations (UN) resolution, centered around the theme of “Space and Entrepreneurship.” It underscored the proliferating commercial space industry, acknowledging the indispensable role of space entrepreneurship and its far-reaching impact on diverse sectors. The series comprised the SAT From Trash Competition, National Astro-Toon Competition, and National Astro Video Podcast, stimulating intellectual curiosity and creativity among participants.
“We firmly believe that events like WSW- 2023 serve as catalysts for innovation and curiosity, prompting students to delve deeper into STEM fields and explore the thriving opportunities within the commercial space industry,” stated Dr. Sachin Bahmba (CMD, SPACE India).
The results of the WSW – 2023 competitions were announced during the inaugural week of November, celebrating the outstanding talent and creativity showcased by the participants.
Simultaneously, SPACE India organised the prominent Dr. Kalam Quiz Championship, an educational event designed to spark students’ interest in science and astronomy. The championship, dedicated to honoring the legacy of Dr. Abdul Kalam, the eminent aerospace scientist, and former President of India, was hosted for schools associated with SPACE India.
Scheduled on October 16, 2023, at Sri Venkateshwar International School, Dwarka, the Dr. Kalam Quiz Championship witnessed enthusiastic participation from schools across the region. Divided into two categories – for students in grades 6th to 7th and 8th to 9th – the championship fostered an inclusive platform for learning and discovery.

Category 2 (Class 8th – 9th):
– 1st Winner: Delhi Public School, Greater Faridabad
– 2nd Runner Up: K.R. Mangalam World School, Vikaspuri
