RWTH Aachen University and FH Aachen Forge Partnerships with Local Schools to Enhance Educational Collaboration

An important task of the Student Advice Centers at Aachen’s universities is supporting school pupils with career guidance and easing the transition from school to university. As part of the state program “Kein Abschluss ohne Anschluss” (KAoA), roughly translated as “no degree without support”, FH Aachen University of Applied Sciences and RWTH will work more closely and intensively with schools in the local area.

The universities focus on close partnerships with schools to engage teachers and pupils alike. Staff from the Student Advice Centers will regularly visit schools to give talks, run workshops, and share their expertise. Together with the schools, the universities will develop individual advisory services to support pupils in their study and career choices. This includes information on degree programs, application processes, and internships.

“We are delighted to be able to expand our successful partnerships with schools in Aachen, Düren, and Heinsberg. These partnerships are an important step in providing students with sound guidance,” says RWTH student advisor Dr. Anne Kursten.

Zoe East, Head of the Student Advice Center at the FH, emphasizes the added value of these partnerships: “FH Aachen considers promoting education and study and career guidance in the region vital. By working closely with schools, we seek to help students make well-informed decisions for their future.”
