New Chairman at Dept of Statistics

ALIGARH : Prof Athar Ali Khan, Department of Statistics and Operations Research, Aligarh Muslim University has been appointed as the Chairman of the department for a period of three years with effect from March 31, 2024.

Prof Khan joined Aligarh Muslim University as a Professor of Statistics on June 25, 2009. Earlier, he had worked as a lecturer in the Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences, Shalimar, Srinagar in 1986, became an Associate Professor in 1998 and Professor in 2006. He received his UG, PG and M.Phil. degrees from AMU and got a PhD degree from the C.C.H. Haryana Agricultural University, Hissar in 1997.

He has published more than 56 research papers in the journals of national and international repute. He has completed a project worth Rs. 14.23 lacs funded by the ICAR during 2001-2003 as the Principal Investigator and developed software for data analysis in 2004.

The area of research of his interest includes Bayesian Statistics.
