Poster launched for Hospital Cornea Retrieval Programme
ALIGARH : The Eye Bank at the Institute of Ophthalmology, J.N. Medical College, Aligarh Muslim University unveiled a poster for its Hospital Cornea Retrieval Programme (HCRP) aimed at sensitizing the nursing and paramedical staff and fostering frequent interactions among all stakeholders.
Addressing the programme, the Dean, Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Veena Maheshwari lauded the Eye Bank’s initiative and assured full cooperation to it from her office’s side in promoting cornea donation.
Prof. A.K. Amitava, Director, Institute of Ophthalmology, said that poster has been released in Hindi, Urdu and English languages, underscoring inclusivity and accessibility to all sections of society.
Prof. Waseem Rizvi and Dr. Zia Siddiqui, along with Dr. Saquib, Assistant Eye Bank Incharge, shed light on India’s staggering one million cases of corneal blindness and the dire need for 100,000 corneas.
Prof. Adeeb Alam Khan, former Eye Bank Incharge and Cornea Incharge also shared his experiences. Dr. Naheed Akhtar and Shazia Areen along with postgraduate students of ophthalmology were also present on the occasion.
