Two-day academic and literary programme held
ALIGARH : The Department of Urdu, Aligarh Muslim University organized a two-day academic discussion on “Women issues in Urdu literature”, which was followed by a Baitbaazi programme.
Expressing his views, Prof Quamrul Hooda Faridi, Chairman of the Department shed light on the various aspects of women issues portrayed in Urdu literature by leading writers and scholars. The pioneering works of Deputy Nazir Ahmad were the first to talk about the education, rights and duties of girls and role as the maker of a good and just society.
Prof Faridi said that apart from male writers, the Urdu literature also has a sizable number of female writers who have rendered noteworthy services with regard to women empowerment.
The winners of the Baitbazi competition received books as prize.
Prof Sirajuddin Ajmali was the chief guest.
Dr. Aftab Alam Najmi conducted the programme and Dr. Sarfaraz Anwer extended a vote of thanks.
