Three-Day Short-Term Course on Women & Peace under SPARC Concludes
Aligarh : The Department of Strategic and Security Studies successfully concluded a three-day Short-Term Course on Women and Peace, organized under the SPARC project, (Scheme for Promotion of Academic and Research Collaboration), Ministry of Education, Government of India. The course witnessed participation from students across various disciplines and regions.
Dr. Syed Tahseen Raza, Principal Investigator of the SPARC project and Coordinator of the Course, extended welcome to the guests and provided insights into the relevance of the Short-Term Course on Women and Peace. Resource persons from the SPARC project team, including Prof. Yasmin Saikia and Prof. Chad Haines from Arizona State University, USA, conducted diverse sessions throughout the course.
Prof. Aftab Alam, Chairperson of the Department of Strategic and Security Studies, emphasized the necessity of peace studies in the contemporary era during his introductory remarks. Prof. Chad Haines and Prof. Yasmeen Saikia led sessions on Feminist Perspectives on Peace, shedding light on feminist frameworks in understanding peace, international organizations’ roles in feminist peace research, and related concepts.
The interactive sessions facilitated engaging group discussions and question-and-answer sessions, providing attendees with insights into the intersection of feminism and peace research. Dr. Andleeb , offered thanks to the resource persons and participants for their contributions.
