Dr. Guy Suzon Ramangason, great defender of Biodiversity passed away
A personality that defended the Biodiversity and Environment in Madagascar in Africa and beyond, know well, our colleague and friend, Dr. Guy Suzon Ramangason has passed away on 20th April 2020.
Guy was a pioneer of MAB in Madagascar where he was the coordinator of Madagascar’s first Biosphere Reserve, the Mananara Nord Biosphere Reserve. He was the driving force behind the inscription of Tsingy de Bemaraha as the first Malagasy site on the World Heritage list. After an international career at IUCN and WWF, Guy Suzon took the reins of Madagascar National Parks, where he was CEO from 2003 to last year. He was the backbone of the “Vision of Durban 2003” which aimed to triple the area of protected areas in Madagascar. The impact of his charisma, his competence and his leadership were in the measure of Madagascar’s exceptional biodiversity.
