Department of Bone and Joint of PKU People’s Hospital publishes research findings
Peking: The Lancet Rheumatology published “Burden of Osteoarthritis in China, 1990-2017”. The research was a joint effort by four institutes: Department of Bone and Joint of PKU People’s Hospital, the National Center for Chronic and Noncommunicable Disease Control and Prevention of the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation, University of Washington, and Department of Rheumo-Immunology Massachusetts General Hospital.
The research findings showed an obvious increase in our country’s incidence of osteoarthritis, the number of patients, and quality-adjusted life years lost. In the future, more investment and medical resources should be allocated to the following four aspects: enhancing disease prevention and early diagnosis, launching public health surveys, promoting health publicity and education of osteoarthritis, and increasing medical resource investment in underdeveloped areas.
