BBBP Campaign: Awareness programme on women centric schemes hosted at Rajouri

Rajouri: An awareness programme on Women Centric Schemes was today organized by Mahila Shikhsha Kendra under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao campaign here at Panchayat Thandikassi.
Women Welfare Officer, Rajouri, Dr. Anum Mirza and district coordinators MSK, Nazma Sheikh and Sanjana Thakur made the participants aware about women centric schemes BBBP, Sukanaya Samridhi Yojana, Janani Suraksha Yojna, Ujwala yojana, one stop centre, women safety laws, women and child helpline number, women welfare schemes , PC and PNDT act and various scholarships..
They also informed the gathering about the declining child sex ratio, its consequences and the ways to eradicate the menace of Foeticide.
Sarpanch of the Panchayat Thandikassi, Parvez Akhter, interacted with the Women Welfare Officer Rajouri and discussed various issues faced by women of her area.
During the program, the team of DLCW Rajouri laid emphasis on the importance of education among girl students. They also urged the parents to allow their girls to get proper education, as education is the best way to empower them and the nation. They also raised the issue of gender inequality and said that the men and women are the two sides of the same coin.
Along with awareness, DLCW, Rajouri also distributed stationary kits among the girl students under BBBP. The stationary kits included stationary items like pencil box, notebooks, books, sharpeners, erasers, instrument box etc.
Further Women Welfare Officer, Dr. Anum Mirza apprised the gathering about BBBP scheme and social assistance being provided to women in distress. She also stressed upon containing the school dropout rate of girl students, which is a hindrance in the path of development .She said that girls should get an equal opportunity to explore herself and be supported by their parents and society to become an independent person. She also urged women and girls to avail the benefits of the schemes. She further said that District Administration of Rajouri is fully committed to bring positive and sustainable change in the lives of women.
