Madhya Pradesh Government making Tireless Efforts to Provide Barrier Free Life and Facilities to Divyangjan
Bhopal : Showcasing the best use of social media in spreading awareness about the success of Accessible India campaign in the state, Government of Madhya Pradesh and Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India hosted a joint Twitter and Facebook Conference earlier this morning. The interactive discussions were hosted in a question-answer format using Chief Minister’s official Twitter handle @CMMadhyapradesh and Accessible India Campaign handles @MSJE_AIC.
The combined reach of both the conferences were around 2,50,000 people across the country. The discussions were around the progress Madhya Pradesh made under the Accessible India mission providing barrier-free India to Divyangjan. The discussions during the conference revealed how the government is working tirelessly under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan to provide facilities to Divyangjan for their participation in various initiatives and lead a barrier-free life.
The conference talked the remodeling of various government buildings across the state keeping in mind the access needed for wheelchairs, audio-visual signage at various public places, specially designed universal toilets in hospitals and government buildings, reserving parking spaces for vehicles driven by Divyangjan, how smart cities are being designed keeping in mind the needs of Divyangjan were also shared during the course of the event.
The Government’s efforts to design Divyangjan-friendly facilities are underway in both rural and urban areas of Madhya Pradesh. Each Panchayat of the state has been sensitized about the need for providing accessible facilities. Schools, Panchayat Bhawans, Community Centers etc. are being developed in rural MP to provide ease of movement to the physically challenged. Similarly, special attention has been paid to cater to the needs of differently abled in smart city projects of Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior, Jabalpur and Ujjain. The Government is taking extra care that all smart cities entail features like access ramps, drop kerbs, handrails, and reserved spaces in parking lots, illumination and Braille & Tactile signature in all important public and tourist places.
It was informed that keeping in mind the all-round development of Divyangjans, smart classes and exclusive residential schools have been established. As part of smart classrooms, Divyang students are being provided with Braille language teaching aids, hearing equipment etc. Regular scholarships are being provided to encourage them. 52 designated websites have been designed to ensure people with disability receive Information using mix of audio-video technology. To help them participate in the development of the society, novel initiatives like Panch Sparsh are being introduced. Similarly, Rozgar Mela is being organized occasionally to empower them through education. Funds are also being provided for the proper manifestation of their talent in sports. It is owing to the Government’s proactive approach that different abled individuals of the state are winning accolades at international levels. All efforts are being put to ensure Divangjan receive benefits of schemes designed for them. ADIP camps are also being organized at regular frequencies.
