Survey on the role of cultural heritage and creativity in Latin American and Caribbean Cities

UNESCO and UN-Habitat are mapping good practices on the role of cultural heritage and creativity in the transformation cities in Latin America and Caribbean. The first outcome document is a guide a on the role of cultural heritage and creativity in sustainable urban development. Through examples and proposals, the guide aims to reinforce the cultural approach of the Regional Action Plan of the New Urban Agenda and encourage a culturally responsible urbanization in the cities and human settlements of the region.

In 2020, the global reality of the COVID-19 pandemic requires rethinking what has been achieved and seeking innovative and creative responses to contain and overcome the effects of the spread of the health crisis, but also to anticipate and address the impact of the resulting economic, social and cultural crisis.

In order to update the Guide, a survey was created to

• Learn about and include the good practices on how cities are preparing to activate or enhance cultural heritage and creativity as tools for urban resilience during and after COVID-19.

• Compile proposals for future cultural actions related to cultural heritage and creativity to accelerate the implementation of the New Urban Agenda in Latin America and the Caribbean.
