More than 180 schoolchildren of 8-10 grades of Petrozavodsk took part in the Congress of Technocrats

On November 24, activists of the Student Scientific Society of PetrSU spoke at the Congress of Technocrats-2020. More than 180 schoolchildren of 8-10 grades of educational institutions of the Karelian capital have become participants in the online event.

Anton Malyshko, chairman of the Student Scientific Society, was one of the hosts of the Scientific Lounge and told the children about the work of the SSS and the prospects that await them during their studies at the university. The rest of the SSS activists made presentations on their areas of scientific interest.

Marina Alikina, 1st year undergraduate student of the Institute of Philology, told the audience about the possibilities of expressing the future tense in English in her report “English: Let’s Talk About the Future”.

Alexandra Potsenkovskaya, a 6th year student of the Medical Institute of PetrSU, presented a report “Laser vision correction”, during which she told the children about refractive errors, possible correction methods and about the analysis of the results of refractive surgeries performed in the BCC in 2017-2020.

Valeria Kovaleva, a 5th year student of the Medical Institute of PetrSU, in her report “Hunting for Microbes” showed the main mechanisms of action of antimicrobial drugs, what kind of resistance bacteria have for their own protection and what prospects await doctors and scientists in this difficult work.

Maksim Feoktistov, a 4th year student at the Institute of History, Political and Social Sciences, told the audience about how in the 50s of the XX century “Object 230”, a laboratory for the study of radiological weapons, was created on Lake Ladoga, and how at the Kit test site studied the effects of radiation on animals in the flesh until 1955.
