Acquaintance with the work of the Karelian branch of the All-Russian Plant Quarantine Center

In April, once again, a study tour of the students of the Institute of Biology, Ecology and Agrotechnology of the “Biology” and “Agronomy” areas of training to the Karelian branch of the All-Russian Plant Quarantine Center (FSBI “VNIIKR”) subordinated to the Rosselkhoznadzor took place.
The event was focused directly on the professional and practical training of students in these areas. The students got acquainted with the main methods of detecting and diagnosing quarantine organisms and with scientific research carried out by the branch.

During the excursion, reference collections of xylophilic insects, pests of grain stocks, stem damage of coniferous and deciduous trees, herbarium materials, cultures of pathogenic microorganisms were demonstrated. All this contributes to the formation of general and professional competencies, enhances interest in the specialty being mastered, orients the individual towards the development of creative potential and the choice of a profession.
