ADC chairs meeting of District Level Advisory Committee on Food Safety

 

Jammu: Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Jammu, Satish Kumar Sharma today convened a meeting of District Level Advisory Committee (DLAC) on Food Safety, here at conference Hall.

On the occasion, a detailed presentation was given by Assistant Commissioner, Food Safety Jammu, Dr Parvesh Kumar who is also the Member Secretary of the committee.

The meeting was informed that the food safety wing of Drugs & Food Control Organization (D&FCO) from last one year has lifted more than 315 samples. It was further informed that the department initiated prosecution of 903 violators of which 188 were fined an amount of Rs.4. 14 Lakh, while 715 cases are subjudice

It was further informed that out of 315 samples, 56 were found substandard and 33 as unsafe and 90 as misbranded, besides several establishments were closed for varying periods and 4800 food business operators were brought within the ambit of Food Licensing.

Meanwhile, the committee was informed that the district has been selected for Eat Right Challenge-a flagship program of FSSAI and under this programme certain schemes like RUCO, Surveillance & Enforcement drives, Licensing & Registration drives, FOSCORIS inspections, Special Camps for consumer Awareness, FosTac Trainings, Hygiene Rating, Hub Certification, Eat Right School & Campuses are also being implemented on ground.

The ADC assured full support to Food safety Wing of D&FCO, Jammu for smooth implementation of FSS Act and COTPA. He also instructed the officers to implement the food safety awareness and other programs along their flag ship program Beti Padao Beti Bachao.
