Advisor Baseer Khan inspects ongoing works on Transit Accommodation Camps at Wandhama Ganderbal, Odina Bandipora
GANDERBAL : Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Baseer Ahmad Khan today visited Wandhama Ganderbal and Odina village of Bandipora district to inspect the ongoing works on the Transit Accommodation Camps in these areas besides taking stock of various other ongoing development works in these areas.
He was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Kritika Jyotsina at Wandhama, Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Dr Owais Ahmad and DDC member Tahir-ul-Qadri at Odina, Chief Engineer R&B, Executive Engineers, AEEs and other senior officers of both the districts in their respective districts.
During his visit to the site for Transit Accommodation at Wandhma Ganderbal, the Advisor assessed the progress on works being executed there. Chief Engineer R&B briefed the Advisor about progress of works on the project and discussed the layout plan for Transit Accommodation. He was informed that the project which comprises of 12 towers with 192 flats having total plot area of 30 Kanal had been approved for an amount of Rs. 23 crore. The Advisor was further informed that the RCC structure is completed in all apartments besides structural steel truss is also completed in two blocks and brick work in frames is in progress.
The Advisor also reviewed the site layout plan for allied works which include double storey shopping arcade, double storey Community Hall, boundary wall, approach road, security bunker and watch tower. The Advisor gave on spot directions for early submitting of DPR of these works and exhorted upon the Chief Engineer to expedite the pace of work so that the project gets completed within the stipulated timeline.
Officers at Odina site of Transit Accommodation informed the Advisor that transit accommodation is coming up at the cost of Rs 57.60 crores comprising of 480 flats in 30 blocks. They said each block is four-storeyed with four flats in each storey thus totalling up to 16 flats in one block. The structure is RCC framed structure with arrangement for lift provided. Brickwork is to be provided for external and internal walls with wooden frames and shutters. Steel roof truss is to be provided with colour coated CGI sheets, officers informed.
Advisor took detailed stock at the site Odina and directed the officers to expedite the work so as to meet the deadlines. He stressed on maintaining the quality of works all along the project.
The Advisor also inspected various developmental works undertaken by the Rural Development department in both the districts. Advisor directed the RDD to utilize the remaining working season to the optimum so that the ongoing public welfare and developmental works are completed before the onset of winter season. He said that special emphasis should be laid on the works that are properly reflected in the already prepared annual plans and employment generating works so that people get meaningful livelihood opportunities in their own areas. The Advisor directed the officers of RDD to take up development of playfields, flood protection and other works under convergence mode as directed to them in the meetings held in the regard.
The Advisor interacted with the DDCs, BDCs and PRIs at Manasbal and urged them to come forward and spread the message about the SOPs related to Covid and motivate people for vaccination in their respective areas. He said that the war against Covid infection is not over yet and to combat the looming threat of 3rd wave of covid-19, he appealed the people to follow Covid Appropriate Behaviour strictly as coming 100 days are crucial.
Meanwhile, DDCs, DBCs and PRIs also raised several issues of public importance and sought redressal of their demands.
The Advisor while replying to the issues said that every possible initiative is being taken to streamline the public service delivery system and Government is committed to ensure that better services are available at the door steps of the people, he added.
The Advisor said that UT administration is committed to upgrade the power scenario in whole UT and if there is any demand with regard to up-gradation of power supply like replacement of damaged poles and wires, the same demand should be brought to the notice of District Administration so that needful is done before the winter season.
Replying to one of the demands regarding development of playground, the Advisor directed the district administration to identify land and asked the PRIs to help the district administration in the process so that playfields are developed in their respective villages.
Advisor also interacted with DDC members and representatives of Panchayat Raj Institutions (PRIs) from Bandipora also who apprised the Advisor about various developmental issues. Advisor Khan assured every possible help from the government to meet the developmental needs. He said that the PRIs, by virtue of devolution of powers, have a very important role to perform in supervision, decision making and formulation of plans. He further added that PRIs are acting as a bridge between Government and public and pace of development has increased in all sectors.
