Advisor Sharma discusses modalities for creation of Education Council

Jammu: Advisor to Lt. Governor, K.K Sharma today said that a comprehensive exercise is underway for upgrading the curriculum of school education and undertaking holistic research measures for improving its quality.
The Advisor was speaking at a meeting convened to discuss the modalities for establishment of Council of Education, Research and Training for J&K. Chairman JKBOSE, Veena Pandit and other senior officers attended the meeting.
It was given out that the major function of this Council would be development of curriculum, instructional material, text books, supplementary materials to address the need of children, including those with special needs. “Besides undertaking research programs, it will provide guidance support and assistance to J&K’s department of Education and its functioning,” the meeting was told.
The Advisor asked to lay main focus on strengthening the educational setup in the Union Territory so that the quality of curriculum and imparting of education improves. He said that several other measures are also underway for improving the overall educational scenario in J&K.
Later, the Advisor also met with a deputation from Nagseni area of Kishtwar district led by Chairman Block Development Council Mohammad Ashraf who projected several issues related to development of the area, especially the provision for providing jobs to the skilled youth of the area in different hydroelectric projects being executed by the government in the area.
Former Minister Rajiv Jasrotia also called on the Advisor and projected several issues of Kathua constituency. The Advisor assured for early redressal of the issues projected.
