Aligarh Muslim University emerges fourth best Indian University: US News’ global universities ranking

Aligarh: As Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) continues to expand influence on world stage, the ‘US News and World Report Education’ has placed AMU on the fourth rank in Indian universities in this year’s ‘Best Global Universities Ranking’.

It is a moment of pride and joy for the whole AMU fraternity, said the AMU Vice Chancellor, Professor Tariq Mansoor while congratulating AMU faculty members and students for securing the fourth rank in the list of Indian universities.

Prof Mansoor added that it is the result of collective and sustained efforts of teachers and students of the University.

For the ranking, AMU was analysed on different variables that measure academic research into consideration, including academic reputation, international collaboration, publications and citations. It is through these rankings that students all over the world make their study and career choices, said Professor M Salim Beg, Chairman, Ranking Committee.

AMU has been ranked after the Panjab University, Visva Bharati University and University of Delhi on the first, second and the third ranks respectively. Banaras Hindu University stood fifth in the rankings.
