ALIGARH : The Aligarh Muslim University Vice Chancellor, Prof Tariq Mansoor today inaugurated the newly constructed Cancer Block OPD at the Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College hospital, built with a fund of about Rs. 1 Crore.

Speaking on the occasion, the Vice Chancellor said that the new OPD block will help manage the increasing number of cancer patients and provide them with better care and support facilities.

Prof Veena Maheshwari (Dean Faculty of Medicine), Prof Rakesh Bhargava (Principal and CMS, JN Medical College) and Prof Haris M Khan (Medical Superintendent) were present on the occasion. They said that the new facility will help in early detection and treatment of cancer which is crucial in the fight against the disease.

Prof Mohd Akram (Chairman, Department of Radiotherapy) said that the new Cancer OPD Block is designed to provide best possible care to patients. The facility has several treatment rooms, designated to cater to different types of cancer, and the palliative care rooms are available for better treatment stratification.

A number of faculty members, resident doctors and staff were present in the inaugural function.
