Amity Business School organizes an International Marketing Symposium

Amity Business School of Amity University, Mumbai has organized an International Marketing Symposium in the campus. The event was inaugurated by Vice Chancellor Prof (Dr) A W Santhoshkumar.

 

The event was conducted to understand the concepts of marketing by the industry experts. It also aimed to understand the skills required by the freshers to get into industry and sustain the same. The event included international speakers from various countries like Australia, Malaysia, USA, Singapore, and India.

 

Speaking at the event, Vice Chancellor, Dr. A. W. Santoshkumar, mentioned how marketing is everywhere in real-life and how important it is. Deputy Pro Vice Chancellor Dr. Vijay Singh Dahima, added that marketing is a way of communication and not creating demand, communicating a message correctly is marketing.

 

The event was divided into three tracks: Track A – Bridging the capability, talent & skill set gap to shape the future marketing trends, Track B – Orchestrate multichannel marketing to support the customer journey internationally, and Track C- How much Personalization is too much, from a Privacy and Business Investment (Overkill) perspective?

 

Dr. Song Kouk Thong, Pro Vice Chancellor, INTI International University, Malaysia, talked about education and industrial needs. He disclosed the skills required for fresh graduates as work management skills to achieve work-life balance, manage stress, personal skills for self-management, skills for automation of processes to enhance the automation for improved efficiency, technology and digitalization from transaction services to value add services, communication and presentation skills, updated relevant courses like cybersecurity and business analytics, problem-solving skills, need for continuous learning, and IQ-EQ-CQ (Intelligence, Emotional and Cultural Quotient).

 

Dr. Ayon Chakraborty, Associate Professor, Federation University, Australia, explained that on-the-job trainings, real-world projects, guest lectures are important to get practical experience. He discussed the skills like stress management, technology, negotiation, creativity, communication, public speaking, and analytical thinking are crucial for industry. He mentioned that education sector can equip the students with the necessary skills by knowledge and skills based courses.

 

Mr. Ashish Thete, Founder, GDK Educational Institute, India, said whatever you produce must be marketed properly. Further, he explained different channels for marketing, including the physical and online or digital marketing. He discussed the difference between single, multi, cross and omnichannel. He focused on explaining the multichannel marketing with the help of cases: Apple and Starbucks.

 

Key takeaways from the event were the skills required for the graduates and how education can impart those skills. Students also learned about the privacy practices that can help avoid invasion of privacy.
