Amity University’s Annual Sports Meet “Sangathan 2022″ Concludes

Inter Amity Institutions Sports Meet “Sangathan 2022” concluded this week with the felicitation of winners in more than 10 sports events at Amity University Noida Campus. This for the first time after corona pandemic, Sangathan was celebrated in the physical mode with thousands of students, faculty from over 11 campuses in India and 17 campuses abroad participated in the event.

 

In keeping with the indomitable spirit of Amitians, Sangathan is celebrated at two levels. At the first level, sports competitions are held at each Amity University Campus as ‘Inter Institutional Sports Meet’. At the second level, a mega Sangathan event is held at Amity University Noida, Uttar Pradesh, whereby all Amity National and International Campuses come together in unison to participate and compete in a plethora of sports events.

 

Sport activities like, Tug of War, Table Tennis, Chess, Carom and Volleyball were part of Sangthan 2022. The game of Archery is also included for the first time.

 

The ceremony witnessed the felicitation of students, faculty and staff members for their exemplary display of sportsmanship and skills by way of awarding gold, silver and bronze medals.

 

Amity Noida campus has lifted the trophy of Sanghatan 2022. Amity University Mumbai bagged four medals: Basketball boys (Silver), Basketball Girls (Bronze), 100mts Running Girls (Bronze), and Drone competition (Silver).

 

Prof. (Dr) A W Santhoshkumar, Vice Chancellor, Amity University Mumbai said,“ Sangathan is being celebrated in commemoration of unity among the students. One of the important ingredient of the prosperity is the sportsman spirit. Life itself is a sport and endurance is more important, that ultimately each and every unique quality comes through sportsmanship.”

 

Retd. Col Sharanjit Singh, Director, Sport and Hostel Security, said that, sports help students to study better, improves concentration, problem-solving skills, and memory. The purpose of Sangathan is to foster a sense of coexistence for holistic wellbeing of today’s youth. He motivated the students that they must play some sport every day.

 

The annual sports meet started way back in 1998 on the Founder’s Day that is celebrated to honor the dynamic leadership and unparalleled achievements of the Founder President of the Amity Group of Institutions, Dr. Ashok K Chauhan.
