AMU Alumni Association Qatar body installed – Dr. Nadeem Zafar Jilani newly elected President announced the portfolio of the elected managing committee

Doha : It is rightly said that no graduate of any university loves his or her Alma mater as strongly as the graduates of Aligarh Muslim University love their alma mater. Anywhere in the world there are a number of old students they form an Alumni forum for socializing and doing something for the university’s progress and community. The Qatar chapter of the Alumni is one of the most active and prominent world-wise as the highest authorities of the University have duly recognized this fact. The Aligarh Muslim University Alumni Association Qatar (AMUAAQ) celebrated the installation ceremony and traditional exchange in their inaugural meeting of new managing committee on 14th January 2022 at Doha.


The program started by the recitation of verses from Holy Quran Mamnoon Ahmad Bangash. Achievements was briefed by M. Farman Khan and Vote of thanks provided by M. Faisal Naseem while program was deftly compered by Dr. Ashna Nusrat, she welcome the outgoing president Mr Jawed Ahmad and welcome the elected new president Dr. Nadeem Jilani and his managing committee. She welcomed the guest and also advised the attendees to follow the MOPH guidelines as a covid 19 precautionary measures.She briefed about Dr. Nadeem Jilani and informed that AMUAAQ is recognized from Aligarh Muslim University since 2018 and Affiliated from ICBF, Indian Embassy Qatar in the year 2019. The official logo was launched in 2018 by our present Vice Chancellor professor Tariq Mansoor and in the same year he became the patron of AMUAAQ.This was done under the presidentship of our honorable outgoing president Mr. Jawed Ahmad.

Dr. Syed Intekhab Alam – Head of Healthcare, 3. Mohammed Faisal Naseem – Vice President, 4. Mohammed Farman Khan – General Secretary, 5. Mamnoon Ahmad Bangash – Head of membership and Captain Cricket, 6. Dr. Ashna Nusrat – Vice President (Ladies Membership), 7. Farrukh Ali Farooqi – Head of Sports (Cricket, Football, TT, Badminton), 8. Ghazala Yasmeen – Head of Literary and Cultural activity, 9. Dr. Shima Sadaf – Head of Training and Development, 10. Mohammed Nayeem – Head of Toastmaster membership, 11. Abad Ahmed Khan – Head of associate membership. Dr. Nadeem Zafar Jilani, Medical Director Sidra Child Advocacy Program elected as the President of AMU Alumni Association Qatar (AMUAAQ) an election held recently on 07 January 2022 for its managing body. The election intended to elect office bearers for the posts of President and Executive Committee. The results were announced by Mr. Vinod Nair, Election Officer (VP-ICBF, Indian Embassy Qatar) on 07th January 2022 after the virtual election. Circulated results were signed by Election officer and outgoing President. Prior to election, notification of election, nomination form and guidelines circulated to all the members and copied to Apex body of Indian embassy Qatar and AMU Aligarh by outgoing president Jawed Ahmad.
Dr Ashna Nusrat an alumnus of AMU informed that this association has 4 subdivision. They are: 1.AMUAAQ – Toastmaster, 2. AMUAAQ – Sports, 3. AMUAAQ – Healthcare, 4. AMUAAQ – Ladies, She also informed that Apart from these there is no other official groups of AMUAAQ
First international release of the book titled “Aligarh Muslim University” was also launched in a glittering function in Oasis Beach Club hotel in Doha Qatar on 14th January 2022 by AMUAAQ. Author of the book renowned journalist Mohammed Wajihuddin, an alumnus of AMU, also addressed the meeting via video calling.
Dr Nadeem Zafar Jilani, the newly elected President of AMU ALUMNI Association Qatar unveiled the book in presence of executive members, dignitaries and senior Aligs. Dr Nadeem mentioned that this book is a must read for all who want to understand what the phenomenon called AMU is all about. Mr Jawed Ahmad , the outgoing President congratulated Mr. Wajihuddin for writing such an excellent book laced with history, anecdotes and references to contemporary issues. Mr. Mamnoon Bangash , senior Alig and executive committee member read some selected passages of the book for the audience. Mr Mohammed Wajihuddin also addressed the audience via a video link and explained what motivated him to write the book. He also thanked the organisers and office bearers of AMUAAQ for facilitating the first international launch of his book.
During his address Dr. Nadeem spoke and thanked everyone and appreciated the outstanding achievements and efforts of outgoing president Jawed Ahmad. “I am duty bound to thank everyone who have been around me for the last few years, helping me to scale these heights. While my family, my wife and kids have been my core strength, people who have guided me and have stood by me all this while too need to be thanked for. I take this opportunity as Allah-given blessing for me to contribute more towards the huge Aligs and Indian expat community working and living in Qatar. I will strive my best for the welfare and service of the Indians in Qatar, while working closely with the ICBF, Indian Embassy and other forums. Service to an Indian is service to our motherland India,” He said. Mr. Jilani requested all the members to join the AMU Alumni Association Qatar (Affiliated) and soon after pandemic we all will meet in the upcoming events. He also told that , he is very much inspired by Sir Syed Ahmad Khan as well to do the welfare of the society.
Dr. Nadeem Zafar Jilani MBBS, MD (Pediatrics), MRCPCH (UK), CCT (Pediatrics-UK), FRCPCH. Originally from DARBHANGA in Bihar. Throughout topper & brilliant academic. Initial Medical Qualification from JNMCH, AMU, India. Trained and worked in UK. Held Senior positions in UK like Consultant Pediatrician North Manchester General Hospital, UK. Tutor of Royal College of Pediatrics & Child Health, London. Named Doctor for Safeguarding Children in Manchester. Clinical Examiner for prestigious MRCPCH Exam of Royal College of Pediatrics & Child Health, London. Received Clinical Excellence Award in 2016 in UK. Held various leadership role in his professional & Social life. Author, blogger, motivational speaker, and renowned Urdu poet. Elected president for AMU Alumni AO of ICBF, Indian Embassy Qatar, VPE for AMU toastmaster club, President of Bazm E Sadaf International. While he has always been known and appreciated for his multiple talents in the field oratory, poetry, healthcare etc, his leadership qualities have not gone unnoticed either as he has been the Chief Advisor of AMUAAQ.
A huge appreciation for Mr. Jawed Ahmad the outgoing president due to whose perseverance and endurance the association reached exemplary heights. With enormous gratefulness and pleasure, Mr. Ahmad thanked the managing committee for the overwhelming support and confidence bestowed on him during his tenure as a President. He also wished all the best to the new dynamic President Dr. Nadeem Zafar Jilani and committee and also assured to put his humble support to get the maximum benefits and also to join hands to unify all the Alig’s to come under one umbrella under the leadership of Dr. Nadeem Jilani. The Outgoing Founding President and Chairman of AMUAAQ, Jawed Ahmad emphasized, that the Patron body, Board member and Advisory committee to be updated shortly.

The main purpose of AMUAAQ is to promote mutual understanding and amity amongst the people.This is actively engaged in promoting Welfare, social, Health care, educational, sports and professional activities in Doha and in India
Finally, the AMU Tarana was performed with the same tradition and enthusiasm. A sumptuous Indian dinner was served to all the participants in the end.
