AMU announces the result of the Sir Syed Essay competition

ALIGARH : Ilma Khan, an undergraduate student at the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) won the first prize in the All India Essay Writing Competition in English language, while Maryam Bi, a PhD scholar at AMU won the first prize in Urdu and Amaan Beg, another undergraduate student at AMU won the first prize in Hindi.

The essay writing competition in English, Urdu and Hindi languages was organized by the Public Relations Office, Aligarh Muslim University, marking the 206th birth anniversary of Sir Syed Ahmad Khan, one of the makers of modern India and founder of the University.

The second prize in English, Urdu and Hindi was won by Dafiul Haque, a student of B.Com. from the University of North Bengal, Darjeeling (WB), Aiman Jabeen (B.Ed., AMU) and Qayyum Ali (PhD, AMU), respectively.

The third prize winners of the three languages are N. Rehanaz (M.Sc., Nehru Arts and Science College, Thirumalayampalayam, Coimbatore, TN), Tabassum Parween (M.Ed., Institute of Education for Women, Kolkata) and Madiha Mumtaz (BUMS, HSZH Govt Unani Medical College, Bhopal, MP).

This year, Aligarh Muslim University organized the essay writing competition on “Sir Syed’s Influence on Language and Literature” in English, Urdu and Hindi, and the first, second and third prize winners of each language will be felicitated with cash prizes of Rs. 25,000/-, Rs 15,000/- and Rs 10,000/-, respectively, by the chief guest in the Sir Syed Day commemorative meeting on October 17 at Aligarh.
