AMU faculty delivers invited web talk

Aligarh: Prof Izharul Haq Farooqi, Incharge Environmental Engineering Section, Department of Civil Engineering, ZH College of Engineering and Technology (ZHCET), Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) discussed various inorganic, organic, radiological and microbial contaminants in water and the many steps that may be necessary to make water potable.

He was delivering an invited web talk on ‘Emerging Contaminant in Water and Wastewater Treatment’ organised by the Lovely Professional University, Punjab.

In the programme with expert speakers from USA, Australia, Denmark, Mexico, Malaysia, IISC Bangalore, IIT Madras and BHU; Prof Izharul Haq shed light on the presence of containments such as Coronavirus, pharmaceutical compounds, endocrine disruptors, personal care products and disinfection by-products in water and waste.

He delineated the techniques used for the removal of such harmful compounds from water and also spoke on the kind of health issues that the contaminated water may lead to.
