AMU faculty delivers talk in International Conference at Bengaluru

 

Aligarh : Professor Hammad Usmani, Consultant Incharge, Pain Clinic, Department of Anaesthesiology, J.N.Medical College Hospital delivered a talk on “Advanced interventions in the management of peripheral neuropathies” at the Advanced Interventional Management of Pain Conference, held at Bengaluru .

While addressing the Conference, Professor Usmani said that Neuropathic pain is usually managed by Pharmacotherapy, but minimally invasive interventional pain procedures such as sympathetic block or neurolysis, can be performed for the management of intractable pain in peripheral neuropathy in patients, with inadequate response to pharmacotherapy or who have developed side effects to drugs.

“Peripheral neuropathy is often reported in patients of diabetes mellitus, herpes zoster, and peripheral vascular disease” added Professor Usmani.

The conference was attended by delegates from nine different countries and from all over India.
