AMU Faculty Release Biostatistics Manual by Elsevier at EFICON 2023 in Goa

 

Aligarh : The 1st edition of the “Biostatistics Manual for Health Research,” a comprehensive text and reference book published by Elsevier, was officially unveiled at the 4th Epidemiology Foundation of India Conference (EFICON) recently hosted at Goa Medical College. The release ceremony was attended by the Former Director General of ICMR, Dr. V.M. Katoch, and the authors of the book, Dr. Nafis Faizi and Dr. Yasir Alvi.

Dr. Nafis Faizi, an Assistant Professor, Community Medicine at JN Medical College, AMU, and Dr. Yasir Alvi, an Assistant Professor, Community Medicine at Hamdard Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (HIMSAR), New Delhi, collaborated on this work.

The “Biostatistics Manual for Health Research” presents a practical, solution-oriented approach to understanding biostatistical principles and their application in health research. It provides readers with a step-by-step guide to data analysis and interpretation of biostatistical tests. The book is now readily accessible at leading online retailers, including Google Books, and the chapter-wise contents can be conveniently accessed via ScienceDirect.

The book launch event was attended by personalities such as Dr. Vishwa Mohan Katoch, Chair of the National Academy of Sciences, India (NASI), and former Director General of ICMR. Other distinguished guests included Dr. RK Srivastava, former Director General of Health Services; Prof. Umesh Kapil, President of the Epidemiology Foundation of India (EFI); Prof. S.M. Bandekar, Dean of Goa Medical College; Prof. VP Srivastav, Treasurer of EFI; Dr. Siddharth Nirupam from UNICEF; Prof. Jagadish Cacodkar, Head of the Department of Community Medicine at Goa Medical College; and Prof. Pradeep Aggarwal, Secretary of EFI.

The 4th EFICON conference witnessed the enthusiastic participation of more than 1200 delegates, including leading epidemiologists, public health experts, and scholars from international organizations, research institutes, and medical colleges.
