Inauguration of the 3rd International Conference by the Department of Life Sciences, NIT Rourkela

BB Auditorium, NIT Rourkela: The Department of Life Science, NIT Rourkela is organizing its 3rd International Conference on “Frontiers in Biological Sciences (InCoFIBS- 2023)” from October 5th-7th, 2023. The conference commenced today with an inaugural session joined by 115 registered candidates (scientists, faculties and research scholars from various institutes and universities of the country). This conference includes invited speakers by 35 reputed scientists of which two international scientists from Texas A&M University, USA and Iowa State University, USA will join virtually.

The session started with a welcome address by Prof. Bismita Nayak (Head of the Life Science Department). She said, “Many brilliant minds from diverse backgrounds have today come together to engage in this conference for intellectual discourse, sharing knowledge, and charting a course for the future. This conference is not just for connections and collaborations, but also a collective endeavour to advance our understanding of the biological world for the betterment of humanity and the planet we call home.”

Dr. Amulya Kumar Panda graced the event as the Chief Guest. Mr. Panda is the ex-director of the National Institute of Immunology. Currently, he is serving as the Associate Director of Panacea Biotec Ltd (New Delhi). Inaugurating the session, he said, “Our body is the best-engineered design to research upon. Unlocking the mysteries of the human body is an ongoing process, and each breakthrough leads to more questions and opportunities for discovery. These kinds of conferences give us the platform for improving healthcare, developing new treatments, and enhancing our understanding of what it means to be human. Life science is the branch of science that is not just about analyzing organisms but also about celebrating the beauty, diversity, and fragility of LIFE itself.”

The conference’s central theme, “Frontiers in Biological Sciences” encapsulates the spirit of discovery and exploration in various biological disciplines. Highlighting more, the Chairperson of this three-day 3rd International Conference, Prof. Surajit Das said, “The conference promises to be a ground-breaking event that will facilitate collaboration, networking, and the sharing cutting-edge research within the realm of Life Sciences. This conference will delve into various subfields like Immunology, Stem Cell Regeneration, Sustainable Development through Bioenergy, Molecular and Environmental Microbiology, Cancer Biology, Disease Biology and Vaccine Approaches, Marine Biology, Tissue Engineering, Nanotechnology Plant and Food and Nutrition Sciences etc.”

The Patron of the conference, Prof. K. Umamaheshwar Rao (Director, NIT Rourkela) attended the opening session and said, “Our body is still evolving and there is so much about Life that we do not know. I congratulate the Life Sciences Department for this convention which aim to learn the factuality of the human body. This meeting will give a direction to undiscovered things that can be unfolded in the future years of advanced research. We are here to deliberate on life and the planet and I am delighted to tell you that our campus has lakhs of butterflies having different shapes, sizes and colours. So explore the campus and get insights from nature while building your knowledge through this scientific exploration. I hope that you take back productive intellectual exchanges and learning experiences to cherish throughout your life.”
