AMU faculty speaks in FICCI webinar

Aligarh : Prof Sheeba Hamid, Coordinator, Master of Tourism and Travel Management (MTTM), Department of Commerce, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) discussed why the fast-changing, dynamic and highly competitive tourism industry needs well-trained hospitality professionals with a serious work ethic and why it is this best time to study tourism.

She was the Chief-Panelist of the first among the series of webinars on ‘Being Tourism Ready’ organised by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) in collaboration with the Department of Tourism, Government of Uttar Pradesh and MKITM (Manyawar Kanshiram Institute of Tourism Management) to encourage all players in the Tourism industry.

In the webinar after the inaugural by Dr Neelkanth Tiwari (Minister of State-Independent Charge-Tourism, Culture, Charity and Protocol, Government of Uttar Pradesh) and Mr Mukesh Kumar Meshram (IAS, Principal Secretary and DG, Tourism and Culture, Government of Uttar Pradesh), Prof Sheeba urged students and tourism industry aspirants to be at the top of their game and to get a good start.

She added: “It is the best to study tourism at this time as one can be a part of the tourism industry’s transformation. The industry may return slowly, but a tailored job search approach may help the students to match with relevant opportunities and when the industry revives, we surely do not want to see dearth on the required manpower”.

Prof Sheeba delineated the stress areas, ways and means to handhold the youth and inculcate or reignite passion among the students.
