AMU faculty trains consultants and doctors in BLS and TOT programmes

Aligarh: Prof S Moied Ahmed, Chairman, Department of Anaesthesiology, Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC), Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) trained over 135 consultants and doctors from corporate hospitals and medical colleges in ‘Basic Life Support’ (BLS) and ‘Train the Trainers’ (TOT) programmes organised by Indian Society of Anaesthesiologists (ISA) at the Belle Vue Clinic, Kolkata.

He was invited by the Indian Resuscitation Council (IRC) to train consultants and doctors in line with the Indian Guidelines for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) during the two programmes.

“Brain storming sessions on Indian CPR Guidelines, which included deliberations on frequently asked questions and a multiple-choice-questions based exam were also held during the training programme,” said Prof Ahmed adding that the participants had to score 75 percent marks to qualify as IRC certified trainers.

Prof Ahmed was instrumental in bringing out Indian Guidelines on CPR. He authored the guidelines, published by Indian Journal of Anaesthesiology with other renowned experts from across the country. Prior to Indian guidelines, CPR in India was carried in accordance with American Heart Association (AHA).
