AMU organized National Webinar on Ram Sarup Ankhi

Aligarh: The Bengali Section, Dept. of Modern Indian Languages, AMU organized a One Day National Webinar, on ?Ram Sarup Ankhi : Panjabi Sahityer Ek Anonyo Galpokar?(Ram Sarup Ankhi : A Unique Storyteller of Punjabi Literature) recently.

The Chief Guest on the occasion Prof Masud Anwar Alvi (Dean of Faculty of Arts) discussed the works of the writer and elaborated similarities between Arabic and Punjabi Literature.

The Guest of Honour Mr Shyamal Bhattacharya (Sahitya Akademi Awardee and Bengali writer) delivered insightful lecture and enlightened everyone on the writings of Ram Sarupji and encouraged the youth to come forward for translation work of literature. At the end of the programme he also answered the questions.

Prof Kranti Pal (Chairperson, Dept. of Modern Indian Language), expressed his emotional attachment with his father and shared the inspiration of his writings. He said organising such a program helps to create interest to read literature in other languages also.

Special Guest Prof Asim Siddiqui (Dept. of English, AMU) offered valuable information and aspects of Ram Sarupji?s writings, especially on his famous Sahitya Akademi Award winning novel ?Kothe Khadak Singh?. He mentioned that in the present era Ram Sarup Ankhi?s writings are quite important because they reflect the village life in the centre of modern literature.

Organizer of the National Webinar Dr Amina Khatun (In Charge of Bengali Section) gave a brief introduction of Punjabi literature and its various writers? writings. A translation of Amrita Pritam?s poem was presented by Suraiya Parvin (M.A student of Aliya University). This Program has gained a large number of participants and viewers. Dr. SK Aptar Hossain (Head of Bangla Sahitya Group, Kolkata) managed the program.
