AMU professor delivers lecture at Ramjas College

 

ALIGARH: Prof Latif Hussain Shah Kazmi, Department of Philosophy, Aligarh Muslim University delivered a lecture on “Relevance of Iqbal in our Times” in a national symposium organized by Ramjas College, Delhi University.

Speaking at the session on “Modern Indian Philosophers”, Prof Kazmi explained the intrinsic characteristics of Iqbal’s poetry, adding that Iqbal’s philosophy is not confined to a specific boundary, but rather appeals to a wide array of readers belonging to different religions, languages and cultures. He said that like Gandhi, Tagore, Aurobindo, Azad, Vivekananda, Sir Syed and others, Iqbal strived for freedom, justice, and reconstruction in religious thought, the dignity of man, power of love, learning science and technology, and man’s role as a vicegerent of God on the earth.

Prof. Kazmi highlighted Iqbal’s concerns for love, which includes patriotism, humanity, universalism, morality, self (Khūdī), equipped with wisdom, freedom and creativity.
