AMU research scholar attends international neuroscience school

Aligarh: Shirin Farheen, a research scholar at Interdisciplinary Brain Research Centre, Faculty of Medicine, Aligarh Muslim University participated in an international neuroscience school conducted by International Brain Research Organizationâ??s (IBRO) Asiaâ??Pacific committee.

The IBRO-APRC Associate School was held on “Blood-Brain-Barrier: From Basic Physiology to Neurological Disorders” at Chandigarh, Punjab.

Noted scientists from different parts of the world including Dr Ajeet Kaushik (USA), Dr Rajnish Kumar (Sweden), Prof Shilpa Buch (USA) and Prof Prakash Babu (Hyderabad) interacted with the participants and introduced them to new molecular techniques like assessing blood brain barrier permeability, zymography and situ assays.

As part of the event, Farheen also visited nuclear medicine facility at PGIMER and presented paper on “Homeodomain transcription factors Pax6 and Nkx2.2 as potential biomarkers for the early detection of brain tumor development”, published in IBRO-APRC souvenir.

Farheen is pursuing research under the supervision of Dr Mehdi Hayat Shahi.
