AMU teachers attend international conference at University of Dhaka

 

ALIGARH  : Dr. Aamir Riyaz and Dr. Shahidul Hoque, Department of Philosophy, Aligarh Muslim University attended the 4th International Conference on “Sociology of Sufism, Perfected Humanity and Divine Quest for Social Harmony”, organized by Darul Irfan Research Institute (DIRI) in collaboration with the Department of World Religions and Culture, University of Dhaka, Bangladesh.

Presenting a paper on “Sufism and The Integration of Man with reference to Seyyed Hossein Nasr”, Dr. Aamir Riyaz highlighted Nasr’s views on the idea of a perfect man and how it leads towards social harmony. He emphasized that Sufism is a tool through which we can achieve peace, co-existence, universal brotherhood, and tolerance in society.

Dr. Shahidul Hoque presented his paper on “The Force of Transcendence: Phenomenology and the Possibility of Mystical Experience”, and discussed the Transcendental Ego and interpreted mystical experience through a phenomenological perspective.
