AMU team takes lead in designing future tech solution

Aligarh: A diverse team of faculty members and post graduate students led by Prof Muhammad Shah Alam, Department of Electronics Engineering, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) have taken a leap into the future by presenting a design solution for an upcoming wireless technology.

Prof Alam led team, successfully developed the on-chip solution for RF front-end (Antenna and low noise amplifier) beyond the 5G wireless technology. Their proposed design’s attractive low-cost feature presents a promising future for achieving extremely high-speed data rate services over the wireless compared to high-cost InP technology.

“These front ends blocks are optimized to operate Millimeter-Wave (mmWave) and Sub-THz of 70-80 GHz and 220-325 bands, respectively,” said Prof Alam.

He pointed out that with this innovation, AMU has become the leading institution in the country to develop a design solution for future communication requirements.

Prof Alam is also working on developing silicon chips from IHP Germany for his proposed low-cost design for 5G and 6G ultra-fast wireless services. He seeks funds from AMU to develop the silicon chips.

“We have been working on this design for several years by using low-cost CMOS compatible technology (0.13µm SiGe BiCMOS) from IHP Germany,” he added.
