AMU VC inaugurates Department of Urdu Auditorium

Aligarh : The newly developed Auditorium with modern facilities was inaugurated by the Vice Chancellor of Aligarh Muslim University Prof Tariq Mansoor at the department of Urdu yesterday. The auditorium is named after the eminent Urdu writer, famous critic and former Chairman of the department Prof Rashid Ahmad Siddiqui.

 

During inauguration Prof Mansoor said the department has received much needed Auditorium. It is due to the team work that the Department of Urdu is recognised as a prestigious and pioneering department of Urdu in the sub-continent.

The performance of the department may simply be judged by the fact that it has produced so many world renowned scholars, poets and fiction writers, he added.

 

In his welcome address the Chairman of the Department of Urdu Prof Mohd. Ali Jauhar shared achievements of the department and highlighted the support he received from the AMU administration for infrastructure development.

 

Prof Siraj Ajmali, Prof Qamrul Huda Faridi, Prof Syed M Hashim also expressed their views on the occasion. Dr Aftab Alam Najmi proposed a vote of thanks.

 

On the occasion the son of Prof Rashid Ahmad Siddiqui Mr Akbar Rasheed Siddiqui along with his spouse was also present along with Deans, Chairmen, Staff members, Research Scholars and students.
