AMU VC releases University Gazette’s Special Issue on Covid Vaccination

 

Aligarh : Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) Vice-Chancellor Prof. Tariq Mansoor released a special issue of AMU Gazette on COVID vaccination on Thursday.

Speaking on the occasion, AMU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Tariq Mansoor lauded the efforts of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and stressed that he was the architect of India’s successful Covid-19 vaccination program.

“We also express our gratitude towards the central government and various stakeholders who stood by us during the vaccine trial and vaccination drive conducted by the University. We also acclaim the efforts of everyone associated with the achievement of One Billion Doses in our country. The vaccination numbers not only suggest the highest receptivity of COVID vaccinations in the world but also a record time in which coverage has been achieved,” Prof. Mansoor added.

The Special issue of University Gazette highlights the contribution of AMU’s medical experts and others in administering the Covid vaccine besides lauding the One Billion Doses landmark by the country.

Prof. Tariq Mansoor said, “AMU has been selected for the Covaxin trial and it was the first institution to enrol 1000 volunteers and submit its report. The doctors and researchers at J N Medical College are at the forefront of administering the Covid vaccine. University holds their tireless efforts in high esteem.”

The University Gazette includes articles on a clinical trial of covaxin, the contribution of AMU’s doctors, and also the contributions of donors who came forward during the pandemic by extending a helping hand. AMU’s Department of Community Medicine supervised the vaccination program and has administered nearly 90000 vaccine doses.

Prof. Mansoor also praised the efforts of the editorial committee of the University Gazette for its timely publication. The members of the editorial committee included Mohd. Faisal Fareed, Dr Ali Jafar Abedi, Dr Nafees Faizi and Omar S Peerzada. During the release ceremony, Dean, Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Rakesh Bhargava, Principal, J N Medical College Prof. Shahid Ali Siddiqui, Coordinator, Centre for Emergency Medicine, Prof. Mohammad Shamim, Principal, Dr. Ziauddin Dental College, Prof. R K Tiwari, Medical Superintendent, J N Medical College & Hospital, Prof. Haris Khan, Chairperson, Department of Community Medicine, Prof. Saira Mehnaz were also present.
