Auburn University Sets New Record with Surge in Fall 2024 Applicant Numbers
The demand for an Auburn degree has never been greater, with the university recently topping 55,000 first-year student applications for fall 2024 — yet another all-time high.
The record number of applications for the fall semester is a 14% increase from fall 2023 — when the university experienced a previous record of 48,000 first-year student applications.
“It is exciting to once again see so many students demonstrating a strong interest in joining the Auburn Family,” said Joffery Gaymon, Auburn’s vice president for enrollment. “As we focus on efforts of greater access to underserved areas, we are working hard to build connections and further grow our applicant numbers.”
Among the more than 55,000 applications received for fall 2024, the applicant pool included more than 12,000 Alabama residents, with representation from every county in the state and all states in the nation. All totaled, 39% of applicants secured admissions, with 34% hailing from Alabama. Additionally, 25% of the admitted students were from an underrepresented background, further emphasizing the university’s dedication to access.
“In meeting with students throughout the state, we are hearing loud and clear how Auburn is the preferred choice of Alabama students,” said Billy Fisher, assistant director of admissions. “In its ongoing efforts of outreach and engagement throughout Alabama and beyond, Auburn continues to demonstrate its dedication to broadening access and enhancing affordability.”
The university’s early action application deadline was Feb. 1, and the 2024 admissions cycle will conclude with a regular decision release in early March.
First-year students admitted in early action for fall 2024 had an average ACT score of 29 and an average GPA of 4.2, with 10% admitted under the university’s test-optional pathway.
“When a student applies to Auburn, the admissions staff carefully reviews their academic achievement, and each application is given personal consideration,” Gaymon said, adding that, “Auburn recruits the best and the brightest.
