New Delhi : Ranked number nine as ‘Best Value Regional Universities Midwest’ by US News and World Report (2022-23), and second in the nation for best employment outcomes by Zippia, recently, Augustana University announced the launch of its master’s in business administration programme in India, to reimagine the future of business education in the post covid world.

In this new cutting-edge full-time on-campus MBA programme, the university will also offer the wider student community a shared space for civic life as an integral aspect of a true liberal arts college and community building via new facilities such as the just opened Wagoner Residence Hall featuring flexible study spaces, a commercial kitchen for group cooking, and meditation room, as well as a major renovation to the Morrison Commons Student Union, and a new outdoor classroom. The MBA programme is aimed to advance social impact by creating ethical business leaders prepared to serve their communities in a diverse world.

The MBA curriculum includes an emphasis on leadership, sound decision-making, digital transformation, entrepreneurship and innovation, 21st century finance and sustainability, and the interface between business and society. The academic experience is brought to life by the Augustana Leadership Academy which matches students with mentors from the local business community.

Why the launch of the MBA programme in India? Ben Iverson, Director of International Programmes & Enrolment at Augustana University, said “To meet the demand for talented business leaders, it seemed that the time had arrived to launch our already existing business programme for international students, especially in India. Sioux Falls, South Dakota is a premier location within the US for business, especially within banking, finance, technology and healthcare sectors. Opportunities here continue to grow as the world emerges from COVID – to the point that unemployment is around 2% locally.” He further added, “We are eagerly looking forward to welcoming Indian students to this programme and offering them a network with top leaders of growing companies in their industry of interest. Some of these growing companies include, but are not limited to First National Bank, Eide Bailly, Ernst Capital Group, Hegg Companies, and Midco. Augustana is already home to a number of talented students from India and elsewhere in South Asia, so it seemed like a natural place to launch this initiative.”

Undergraduate programmes

Additionally, marking its first formal visit to India with a press conference, Augustana University, a liberal arts higher education institution, also welcomes Indian students for undergraduate degree programmes, announcing scholarships with a cumulative worth of up to USD 1 lakh, to partially cover the cost of tuition and course fees. “The idea is to give affordable access to deserving Indian students interested in studying undergraduate programmes across subjects like business, computer sciences, environmental studies, physics, maths, accounting, psychology, multimedia entrepreneurship, art, or music, just to name a few,” said Iverson. Additionally, undergraduate students wishing to eventually pursue an MBA can save a year of study through AU’s innovative 4+1 bachelor plus master’s pathway.

Undergraduate applicants must have a minimum SAT score of 500 (English part) or an IELTS score of 6.0 or equivalent, a GPA of 6.0, and submit an essay to be considered for the scholarship worth USD 15,000 per year. The scholarship could go up to USD 25000 with a band 7.0 in IELTS and an average score of at least 75% in classes 10 and 12.
