Australian PM Albanese Visits India, Plays Holi and Celebrates the Spirit of Cricket with PM Modi

 New Delhi: Australian Prime Minister, Anthony Albanese is currently on his first State visit to India. He arrived at Ahmedabad on Wednesday along with Australia’s Minister for Trade and Tourism, Senator Don Farell and Minister for Resources and Northern Australia, Madeleine King. Accompanying them are also Australian business leaders. PM Albanese tweeted, “Trade with India presents Australian businesses and workers with tremendous opportunities for growth.”
 
The first day of his visit involved celebrating Holi in Ahmedabad and visiting the Sabarmati Ashram, where he paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi’s legacy. After celebrating Holi, PM Albanese tweeted, “Holi’s message of renewal through the triumph of good over evil is an enduring reminder for all of us.”
 
Apart from delving into India’s cultural richness, PM Albanese also got involved in major educational and business engagements on Wednesday. Australia-India educational ties are going to be strengthened further as Australia’s Deakin University will become the first foreign university to open its campus in India. Additionally, PM Albanese also met with a delegation from the Smart Energy Council where he discussed how Australian businesses can benefit from India’s ambitious renewable energy goals.
 
The second day of his visit saw PM Albanese meeting PM Narendra Modi at the Narendra Modi stadium to inaugurate the fourth test match being played between India and Australia. PM Modi tweeted about this saying, “Cricket, a common passion in India and Australia! Glad to be in Ahmedabad with my good friend, PM @AlboMP to witness parts of the India-Australia Test Match. I am sure it will be an exciting game!”
 
Over the next few days, more avenues for partnership between India and Australia will be explored.
