Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav; Padyatra held at Shopian

SHOPIAN: As part of Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav, celebrating 75 years of India’s Independence, the District Youth Services and Sports (DYS&S) Department Shopian today held a Padyatra at Zone Vehil and Zone Imam Sahab of Block Zainapora and Kanjiullar.

The Pad Yatra was flagged-off by SDM Zainapora, Mushtaq Ahmed lone and Principal Govt Higher Secondary School Kanjiullar, Manzoor Ahmad.

Hundreds of students, citizens from various areas of the district and employees of the Youth Services and Sports department Shopian participated in the Pad Yatra.

The participants amid chanting slogans for social causes like drug de-addiction and suicides besides for communal harmony, unity and integrity of the country and carrying National Flag, banners and placards went through the main roads and lanes of the Zainapora and Kanjiullar block of the district with strict adherence to precautionary measures against Covid-19.

On the occasion, the SDM Zainapora said that it is the duty of each one of us to remember and celebrate the extraordinary spirit of our freedom fighters, their supreme sacrifices and their lofty ideals.

He said the government has proposed several programs at Block level under the aegis of Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav.

District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Gurmukh Singh Dutta said that such events will be conducted in the district in all zones and blocks so that the people will know more about the freedom struggle of our country.
