Bangladesh High Commissioner visits Aligarh Muslim University

 

Aligarh: His Excellency Mr. Syed Muazzem Ali, the High Commissioner and State Minister for the People’s Republic of Bangladesh along with his Counsellor Mr. AFM Zahid-Ul-Islam, visited Aligarh Muslim University to interact with the University Administration, faculty and the students of Bangladesh for fostering and strengthening cultural relations and mutual understanding with AMU and the country.

An interactive session was organized by the Dean, Students’ Welfare, Prof Jamshed Siddqui at the New Guest House. Addressing the students on this occasion, Mr. Syed Muazzem Ali said that the students were torch bearers and goodwill ambassadors and that they should make best use of the opportunity available at AMU. He also urged them to pay back their Alma Mater after comleting their education.

Mr Ali said that Bangladesh shared a long history of cultural, educational and economic relations with India and it was imperative that this bond should be eternalized. He also thanked AMU Vice Chancellor for the warm hospitality and invited him to visit Bangladesh

Welcoming the visiting dignitary, AMU Vice Chancellor Prof. Tariq Mansoor said that his visit will open new doors of educational cooperation and exchange programmes and AMU and Banglesh will come closer as both the countries shared a history of cultural affinity. He emphasised that educational institutions could streamline better relations between the two countries.

His Excellency and the Vice Chancellor exchanged mementos on the occasion. The Commissioner of Aligarh, Mr. Subhash Chand Sharma and Inspector General Dr. Sanjeev Gupta were present during the interactive meeting.

Later in the day, accompanied by AMU Public Relations Officer, Mr Omar Peerzada, Mr. Ali offered Fatiha at Sir Syed’s mazar and visited historical buildings including Maulana Azad Library, Sir Syed Academy, K A Nizami Centre for Quranic Studies, Moinuddin Art Gallery, Kennedy Auditorium, Musa Dakri Museum, Willingdon Cricket Pavilion and Hockey Astro Turf, where he planted a tree.

MIC PRO, Prof Shafey Kidwai, AMU Finance Officer, Prof S M Jawaid Akhtar; Proctor, Prof M Mohsin Khan; Controller, Prof Yusuf Uzzaman Khan; Registrar Prof. Javed Akhtar, MIC Guest House Pof Bilal Akhtar, OSDs Prof Asfar Ali Khan and Prof Abdus Salam were also present on the occasion.
