Banihal: Army organises Shaheed Capt Atul Somra memorial Cricket League 2021-22

RAMBAN : Army Camp Banihal is organising “Shaheed Capt Atul Somra Cricket League 2021-22” from November 1 to Nov 16, 2021 to motivate local youth towards physical fitness and fostering sportsmanship.

Capt Atul Somra belonging to Ambala Cantt, Haryana had given the supreme sacrifice for the nation by laying his life for the motherland on July, 18, 2002. The tournament has been organised to commemorate his sacrifice and pay homage to the brave soul.

In all, 40 teams from different parts of Ramban district have registered for the tournament.

The Inaugural match of the tournament was played between FB Sports Banihal and HCC, Kaskoot on 01 Nov 2021.

The tournament was inaugurated by Chief Guest Amir Hassan, BDO Banihal, who appreciated the continuous efforts of the Army for providing an opportunity to local teams to showcase their sports talent. The event has witnessed a high interest level among the youth belonging to the remote villages of the District.

The Army assured the local population of its continued co-operation in boosting sports in the area and conducting sports events in the future also.
