BHIS Vadodara celebrated Gandhi and Lalbahadur Shastri Jayanti with fervour

 

 

Vadodara : With a sentiment of “Gandhi Ek Bharosa aur Shastri Ek Vishwas”, the students of Billabong High International School (BHIS), Vadodara, celebrated the birth anniversary of two great personalities, Mahatma Gandhi and former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri with zest. During this celebration, students of different grades actively participated in various programs and activities.

 

Students participated in a virtual Gandhi March campaign on this occasion which aimed to deliver a message to achieve Sustainable Development Goals through transformative actions and by mobilizing youth around the world, as well as instilling a spirit of kindness among them. It marked a first of its kind international youth campaign through which, the goal was to inculcate compassion and love towards oneself, society, the environment, and animals.

 

In addition to this, students of different grades actively participated in various programs and activities and mesmerized everyone with their performance. Some of the programs and activities that the students participated in are as follows :

 

1. Youth Conference: Students of grades 11 and 12 organized a youth conference where they discussed Digital Innovation, Gender Equality, Resetting the Tourism Sector after Covid 19, Vocal for Local, proper utilization of Science and Technology, emphasizing on Research and Development.

 

2. Singing Program: The students of grades 9-12 participated in the solo singing program where they sang songs filled with motivation. The theme of this program was “Where word fails, music speaks”.

 

3. Just A Min: Grade 8 and Grade 9 students participated in an activity called Just A MIN, in which each team was given a topic to speak on any issue with only 3 minutes to prepare.

 

4. Vocal For Local: To encourage an ambitious mission like Vocal for Local, grade 7 students participated in the Khadi Craft activity. In this activity, the students presented interesting innovations prepared from khadi fabric. The idea was to nurture innovation among them.

 

Similarly, students of other grades proved their mettle by participating in many other activities, which included Rangoli making, delivering patriotic speeches, special programs in honour of Covid warriors, Instrumental play on patriotism, classical dance on the theme of Save Earth including poster making and slogan writing on the theme of Covid awareness.

 

Dr. Prity Shrimal, Principal, Billabong High International School Baroda, who was present during the occasion said, “On the birthday of these two great figures, we have taken a pledge that to achieve the goal of sustainable development. We must sow seeds of some of their inspiring ideologies in today’s youth so that these future leaders can play a key role in making the nation a great place to live in. This can be done by propagating compassion, kindness, love, and social harmony. I was mesmerized by the excellent performances of our students and was especially impressed by the youth conference. We wish our Billabongers a bright future and are here to support and nurture them in their journey towards finding their passions.”she added
