BHU’S LEADERSHIP AND LIFE SKILLS DEVELOPMENT INITIATIVE FOR STUDENTS OF MANAGEMENT

Varanasi: In the series of steps aimed at developing the overall personalities of its students, Banaras Hindu University has launched a new initiative for the students of Institute of Management Studies. The initiative called ‘Student Leadership and Life Skills Development Initiative’ has been initially launched for a period of one year. Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sudhir Kumar Jain has set up a two-member committee to organize programs and activities under the initiative. Dr. Anindita Chakraborty, Assistant Professor, Institute of Management Studies, is the coordinator of the committee while Dr. Harsh Pradhan, Assistant Professor, Institute of Management Studies, has been named the member of the committee. The committee will develop a strategy and conduct activities to develop soft skills, social skills, personal and professional skills of the students. It will engage with students to help them develop events and programs aimed at achieving their personal and professional goals. The committee has been tasked with liaising with external and internal resource persons/facilitators/mentors for conducting workshops, talks and events on various aspects of leadership, emotional intelligence and resilience among others.

During a recent interaction with faculty members of Institute of Management Studies, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sudhir Kumar Jain had said “we must make sure that our students have better opportunities of growth and welfare and we must constantly keep working in that direction”. The newly launched initiative is a reflection of the call given by the Vice-Chancellor to work for the growth of students.
